A 100 percent score for Zenifer Abbasi and 98 percent for Fiza Khan in Biology contributed  to their +90% cadre in the RBSE 12 Board this year. Both the girls appeared for their board examinations as students of Guru Nanak Public School.

Zenifer and Fiza had studied till their 10th class at the Bohra Youth Public Secondary School in Khanjipeer, a low profile educational institution run by the Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat of Udaipur.

This story is more about Zenifer's and Fiza's journey till their high school graduation, rather than their being a part of the number game.

Bohra Youth Public School (BYPS) was established by the Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat to cater to children from low income group families as fees of other private schools are unaffordable by such parents because of their exorbitant fee structures.

However, the persistence of BYPS in delivering quality education is admirable as it's teachers over the last few decades have continued with their tryst to provide students with good education by setting up a strong foundation. BYPS does not have Science stream after grade X. All students who pass out of this school take a mandatory transfer to other RBSE associated schools, mostly in Udaipur.

The two girls whose marks at the Class 12 board are being discussed in this story, are examples of how BYPS sets up a strong foundation for its students, which helps them in giving good performances at their senior secondary level.

In their conversation with UdaipurTimes, Zenifer and Fiza said that they had a very pleasant experience with the teachers and learning atmosphere at BYPS. Their foundation in Science, Math and anguage was strong as the teachers ensured that the basics are taught well.

Zenifer said that she has maintained a strict schedule of self study and has not taken any institutional tuitions either during her 10th board or while preparing for her 12th boards.  Her self study coupled with the strong foundation set up at class 10 level, ensured that she performed above par.  She scored 100% in Biology, 91% in Physics and 93% in Chemistry. She is focused on being a doctor and is preparing for the NEET examination to be held soon. All this, again without any institutional coaching.

Zenifer scored 92.6% in her 12 RBSE board examination and is all praise for her teachers at Guru Nanak Public School. Speaking highly of BYPS Jennifer said that if the school had been conducting Science stream till class 12, she would never have left the school.

Fiza, who scored an overall 94.2%, got a score of 98% in Biology, 93% in English, Hindi and Physics and 94% in Chemistry. Fiza too did her 11/12th from Guru Nanak Public School after passing out of her 10th only because there no classes beyond 10th at BYPS.

Fiza is a self-study oriented student as well, who has not taken any assistance through institutional coaching classes. She too aspires to be a doctor and is attempting the NEET this year on September 30. Fiza said that the base given to her by the teachers at BYPS helped her perform well through classes 11 and 12.

Both students were praise for their teachers at Guru Nanak Public School. They appreciated the role played by Vibha Vyas who teaches Biology at Guru Nanak school and Alok Rohatgi, who teaches Physics at the school for hand holding them and guiding them with their studies.

Low profile schools do churn out high profile performances without the regular humdrum seen with the private schools perhaps, where the high performers are usually studying at institutional coaching centers.
