MATLAB Workshop: Day2 dedicated to Analog, Digital SignalsOn the second day of one week national workshop on MATLAB (Matrix Laboratory) and Its Application organized by Computer Society of India, Udaipur Chapter and University Computer Centre, Mohan Lal Sukhdia University, Udaipur at Vigyan Bhawan, Dr. Mehul S. Rawal of Dhirubhai Ambani Institute for Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), delivered a lecture on Digital Signal Processing.

He started his lecture with basics of analog signal to digital signals. He said humans produce and consume continuous signals with infinite precision but computer can take only these signals at finite precision due to limitation of computer processor either 32bit or 64 bit.

These signal data can be fed to MATLAB for further processing. With the help of MATLAB; sampling, normalization, discretization, quantization and aliasing can be done for reduction of noise.

He talked about the matrix multiplication, polynomial, derivatives, plot, definite integral, complex numbers, and harmonic analysis and also showed these operations using MATLAB.

Mr. Jignesh Bhatt from DA-IICT discussed and displayed the concept of script programming and function programming on MATLAB while Dr. Rashmi, Dr. NK Pareek, Dr. Azimuddin Khan and Mr. Mazher Hussain helped all the 54 participants to complete live exercises on MATLAB software.

Dr. Azimuddin khan, Chairman, CSI, concluded today’s session with vote of thanks to Dr. Mehul and Mr. Jignesh for sparing their valuable time for sharing MATLAB experience with the participants. Participants were very curious about MATLAB and they had raised many queries to experts.

Mr. Ashish Pophalia, from DA-IICT and Dr. Rashmi from MLSU will take theoretical and practical session on image processing using MATLAB tomorrow from 1:30 pm to 7 pm.
