In a recent move to expand medical education options, the Rajasthan government has announced that MBBS courses will now be available in Hindi. This decision, made on Hindi Diwas, September 14, 2024, aligns with similar initiatives by other states.

Starting from the academic year 2024-25, students in Rajasthan will have the choice to study MBBS in Hindi or English. The new Hindi-medium courses will be introduced at two medical colleges: Sampurnanand Medical College in Jodhpur and Medical College in Barmer, both affiliated with Marwar Medical University.

Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical Education Department, confirmed the implementation: “In the first phase, MBBS in Hindi has been launched at Dr. Sampurnanand (SN) Medical College, Jodhpur, and Barmer Medical College.”

Chhattisgarh has also joined this initiative. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced that from the current academic session, MBBS courses will be offered in Hindi. Hindi textbooks and study materials will be available for first-year students this year.

Prior to these announcements, states like Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh had already introduced Hindi as a medium of instruction in medical education.
