It seems like the grime of uncertainty is still wandering over the “Future Mentor” of IIM-U which is all set to start its new session in June this year.

First, it was decided that IIM-Ahmedabad will mentor IIM-Udaipur but now the mentoring role is shifted from IIM-Ahmedabad to IIM-Indore.

In the most recent news coming up from Indian Express, the Union HRD Ministry has decided to drop IIM-Ahmedabad from its IIM mentoring plan, now IIM Udaipur will be mentored by IIM Indore.

The HRD took this decision after finding IIM Ahmadabad’s “superior” attitude.

From the sources in the ministry, IIM-A proposed to supervise IIM U only on certain conditions like a Director should be appointed to IIM-U and its faculty recruited. The mentoring offer by IIM-A would be limited to leadership training of faculty to run the new institute.

This attitude of IIM-A has upset the ministry which was hoping that IIM-A will help to raise IIM-U like the way IITs had done with their new institutes. But IIM-A has disappointed them by putting conditions & limitations to its own new branch(IIM-U).

After several rounds of discussions between IIM-A and the ministry, the Union HRD Ministry has decided to turn to another IIM for the mentoring.
