Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur has been placed at the top of ICAR rankings in Rajasthan, for agricultural and veterinary universities of the state. At the All India level the University has moved 11 notches up, securing the 15th position in the same category. There were 74 universities in the agricultural and veterinary category that were ranked by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research this years. Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of MPUAT, Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore congratulated the scientists, teachers, administrative officers, non-teaching staff and students across the University for this prestigious ranking, which was prepared on the basis of many strict parameters. These rankings ensure that the University gets national and international level research projects as well as priority in financial assistance from the government. This will, in turn, act as a motivational catalyst to scientists, research professionals as well as students across the country, to be a part of this University, he added. The VC called upon the stake holders at MPUAT to work towards moving the MPUAT to the top 10 institutes in India.

Dr Virendra Singh, Special Officer of MPUAT and Dr. AK Singh, Dean, College of Technology and Agriculture Engineering informed that in the last one year, commendable work has been done in academics, pedagogy, research and extension education at the University. These parameters, coupled with MoUs with leading national and international education and research institutes, both in terms of knowledge sharing and excellent research projects, were the parameters that helped MPUAT achieve these rankings. Parameters also include selection of students in National Fellowships in Agriculture, Engineering, Fisheries and Community Science and Dairy and Food Technology, venture dissertation, selection of students in National Agricultural Research Services, National Awards, continuing education of faculty members, richness of library and information technology.  Similarly, the quality of research papers, patents, discovery of new species, production of breeder seeds by the university and research quality of high-grade research projects are made standards. During this assessment at MPUAT, contribution to the development of agriculture in the division, commercialisation of techniques and development of resources, national level awards received by Krishi Vigyan Kendras and farmers associated with those centres and with the University, have also contributed significantly to the ranking, they explained.
