National Go Green Award for GITS Electric – Solar powered vehicle

21 students of Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies from diverse engineering streams designed an electric-solar powered vehicle that was showcased at Asia’s biggest Electric Solar Vehicle Championship in April 2017 at Hyderabad. The team from GITS won the first prize at state level, third prize at the National Acceleration round and 17th at the overall drawings.
Notably, the team from GITS was presented the Go Green award at the Championship. The GITS team cleared all the test rounds and took a position at the Endurance round.
The GITS Team Reckoning Quarter consisted of Jai Surana, Vishal Nagda, Rajkamal Khatik, Narendra Devra, Jayesh Sharma and Shailendra Sen from the Automobile stream; Shubham Agarwal, Paresh Trivedi, Sanjay Mehta, Jitendra, Mohit, Upendra and Pradyuman from the Mechanical branch; Jaideep Kumawat, Diwaker Vashisht, Krunal Wankhede, Bhavesh Sharma and Karan Sukheja from the Electrical branch. The team was supervised by Project and Department Head Prof. Vishnu Agarwal, Director Dr. KN Seth and Financial Controller BL Jangid.
The Electric Solar powered vehicle, which runs on solar during day time and electric power back during night has been assembled under the criteria specified by Society of Automotive Engineers. The vehicle has a top speed of 40kmph. It has a 122 watt hub motor, disc brakes, dual wishbone suspension. This is a prototype model and has been assembled keeping in mind requirements of the future, as per BL Jangid.
