NBE seeks rescheduling permission from Supreme Court because of logistical challenges; exam was originally scheduled for June 15
June 4, 2025 - The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking approval to reschedule NEET-PG 2025 from June 15 to August 3, 2025, and to conduct the exam in a single shift. The Board said that this change is being made in accordance with the Supreme Court’s order dated May 30, which directed that the exam be conducted in one shift instead of two.
NBE said the examination on August 3 will be conducted from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.
In an application to SC, the Board said that August 3 is the earliest date available from its technology partner, TCS, to hold the exam in a single shift. NBE explained that holding the exam in a single shift on June 15 is not feasible as it would require adding thousands of new centres across more than 250 cities in the country and extensive hardware supply chain management.
“The infrastructure needed to be engaged to execute a shift of 242679 candidates with buffer would require infrastructure for 2.70 lakh to be made available across the country which will require considerable amount of time,” the Board has said in its application.
A total of 2,42,679 candidates are expected to appear for the exam.
