Heavy police force was deployed today at Meera Girl’s College early in the morning. After many failed rounds of negotiations between the students and the administration, finally at around 3:30pm about ten women constables forcefully took Priyanka in an ambulance and admitted her to MB Hospital where she was given medicines despite her repeated refusal to do so.

At today morning, M.L. Chouhan, Additional Deputy Magistrate with a team of doctors visited Priyanka Jhala and after thorough check-up doctors advised her to break her fast as her blood pressure started dropping.

According to one of the student, “Priyanka refused to break her fast till late afternoon, but seeing constant pressure from police and administration, we agreed to give her some water and juice. However, police misbehaved with us and took away Priyanka forcefully to hospital.”

M.L. Chouhan. ADM city has told reporters, “We were concerned about the physical condition of Priyanka Jhala who was sitting on anshaan, her BP was going down and she immediately needed medical assistance.”

Students of Meera Girl’s College have been protesting since 17 Oct over various issues related to education, infrastructure and other basic facilities that the college management is not providing to them. The student union group led by Usha Dangi has also submitted a memorandum on 17 Oct to Head of the college.

On 18 Oct, students had forcefully closed the college for any activities and NSUI national representative Priyanka Jhala started her hunger strike.

Today’s incident has sparked a new subject to protest as students are furious due to the alleged misbehavior of police and have pledged to continue their agitation against the college and government administration.

Demands and Problems of Meera Girl’s College students:

1. All the self financed courses to be brought in general category.

2. Master degree course is not available to students for Psychology, Painting and Home Science in Arts Stream.

3. Many optional subjects are not available to the students in Science Stream.

4. There is no department for Political Science.

5. No facility for teaching-learning of Public Administration.

6. Lack of faculty.

7. Lack of administrative staff.

8. Lack of classrooms in college campus.

9. A statue of Meera Bai to be placed in the college campus.

10. Students are not getting their scholarships in time.

11. Lack of rooms in college hostel.

Out of numbers of problems listed above, there are other issues too regarding admission procedure and admission fees etc.

While writing the news this has been reported that Raghuveer Meena, MP Udaipur is now going to MB Hospital to officially break Priyanka’s fast.
