Deliberations on appointment of the Vice Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University finally came to an end in the late hours of 20 July, when Professor Amreek Singh from Lucknow was appointed to the coveted post.

Governor of Rajasthan and de facto Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Kalraj Mishra, on 20 July appointed Prof Amreek Singh, an outsider to the post of Vice Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University and gave the charge of Vice Chancellor of Banswara's Govind Guru Tribal University to Professor IV Trivedi, the outgoing VC of MLSU.

Interestingly, non of the local aspirants were considered for the post of VC. Of the 248 aspiring candidates, the names of Professor Amreek Singh, Prof. Sarangdevot (VC of Janardhan Rai Nagar University) and Professor KL Srivastava were the leading names in the panel. Sarangdevot and IV Trivedi were also included in the panel with Prof Amreek Singh for contention for the Banswara university.
