Udaipur will see the highest number of new school buildings (455), followed by Jhalawar, Pratapgarh, Banswara and Dungarpur. Jaipur will get 134 new buildings.
March 21, 2026 - The State Government has prepared a five-year action plan to improve dilapidated and damaged government schools across the State. A 792-page report was submitted to the High Court by the Chief Secretary, outlining a plan to spend Rs 12,335 crore over the next five years to upgrade school infrastructure
Udaipur will see the highest number of new school buildings (455), followed by Jhalawar, Pratapgarh, Banswara and Dungarpur. Jaipur will get 134 new buildings.
The plan
- Rs 2,487 crore will be spent to construct new buildings for 3,587 dilapidated schools
- Rs 1,129 crore for repair of 22,589 buildings
- Rs 8,378 crore for rebuilding 83,783 classrooms
- Rs 340 crore for repairing 13,616 damaged toilets
Funding
Around Rs 2,500 crore will be spent annually, funded through Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, DMFT, MP/MLA funds, SDRF, CSR, State budget, NABARD and the World Bank.
