The NEET UG 2023 results announced on Tuesday 14 June, revealed a stellar performance by students of Rajasthan. Nine (9%) percent of the 11,45,976 students who qualified in NEET UG 2023 are from Rajasthan. In terms of absolute numbers, the desert state ranks third, following Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, for having the highest number of qualified students. Interestingly, Rajasthan boasts a remarkable strike rate of 68.7%, the highest among the top 10 states (qualified candidates) across India. Delhi however tops the qualification percentage with  73%.

A total of 11,45,976 candidates qualified in NEET UG 2023. Rajasthan's performance of 68.7% beats the national average of 56.21%.

Rajasthan Performance

  • According to the data provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the number of candidates who appeared from Rajasthan for the examination was 1,45,824, out of which 1,00,316 were declared qualified, resulting in a strike rate of 68.70%.
  • Uttar Pradesh (UP) achieved a strike rate of 52.34%, with 2,67,383 students appearing for the exam and 1,39,961 qualifying.
  • Maharashtra, which holds the second position in the country in terms of number of qualified students (1,31,008 out of 2,73,819), had one of the lowest strike rates at 47.84%.
  • Gujarat ranked second after Rajasthan in terms of percentage of qualified students at 68.2%.
  • Seven (7) students from Rajasthan are in the Top 50 All India Ranks in NEET 2023. Rajasthan is second to Delhi in the top 50 candidates. Delhi has 8.
  • Three (3) girls from Rajasthan in the Top 20 Female AIR rank holders - Sumegha (AIR 39), Priyanshi (AIR 66) and Vedika (AIR 79).
  • One (1) boy from Rajasthan in Top 20 Male AIR Rank holders - Parth (AIR 10).
  • One (1) candidate from Rajasthan in Top 10 PwBD toppers - Tripti (AIR 30254).
  • One (1) candidate from Rajasthan in Top 10 PwBD toppers - Naveen (AIR 1319).
  • Three (3) candidates from Rajasthan in Top 10 EWS toppers - Abhay (AIR 144), Lavanaya (AIR 187) and Kanishk (AIR 211).
  • One (1) candidate from Rajasthan in Top 10 SC toppers - Mohit (AIR 243).
  • Two (2) candidates from Rajasthan in Top 10 ST toppers - Satyendra (AIR 189) and Harshita (AIR 1624).
  • Two (2) candidates from Rajasthan in Top 10 OBC toppers - Pragata (AIR 31) and Jatin (AIR 43).

“It shows the combined impact of quality education being given at schools and at coaching institutes. The figures mean that the state will produce the third highest number of doctors. Nevertheless, while the data does not specify education boards, it is evident that students studying in schools affiliated with the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) have made a significant contribution.

Candidate Breakup:

As per the data from NTA, a total of 20,38,596 candidates appeared across 4,097 centres, which included 14 cities outside India. The examination was held on 7 May 2023. The examinations outside India were conducted in Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Colombo, Doha, Kathmandu, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore along with Dubai, and Kuwait City, as per NTA. Of those candidates who appeared for the examination, 20,36,316 were Indian Nationals, 852 were  NRIs and 642 were  OCIs. 786 foreigners also appeared for NEET 2023. This is the category wise breakup of the students who appeared for NEET 2023:

  • General (Unreserved): 592110
  • Scheduled Caste: 294995
  • Scheduled Tribe: 126121
  • OBC: 873173
  • EWS: 152197

Success Rate:

The success rate of 56.21% in 2023  was similar to the success rate in 2022, which was 56.27%. In the  NEET UG 2023 results, percentage of qualified students as per category was as follows:

  • General (Unreserved): 312405 (52.76%)
  • Scheduled Caste: 153674 (52.09%)
  • Scheduled Tribe: 56381 (44.70%)
  • OBC: 525194 (60.15%)
  • EWS: 98322 (64.6%)

As per NTA, the Result of NEET (UG) - 2023 may be utilized by other Entities of Central and State Governments, in accordance with their respective eligibility criteria / other norms /applicable regulations/guidelines/ rules. The result data will also be utilized for B.Sc. (H) Nursing courses in accordance with their respective eligibility criteria / other norms /applicable regulations/guidelines/ rules. The NEET (UG) – 2023 data will also be used for admissions to BVSc & AH courses under the 15% quota of VCI in recognized Veterinary Colleges.
