On August 29, 2023, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) made significant updates to its selection examination procedures. Notably, the commission extended the duration allocated for reviewing Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Sheets during the assessment process from 5 to 10 minutes. Additionally, a new feature was introduced allowing candidates to abstain from providing an answer to a particular question, thereby offering a fifth response option.

The decision to implement these changes was collectively made by the entire commission bench. The primary objective behind this revised examination pattern is to bolster the integrity of the selection process by thoroughly addressing issues related to cheating and corruption. The commission aims to meticulously monitor each phase of the examination to maintain a fair and transparent environment.

To further enhance transparency, RPSC has also introduced a provision wherein candidates will be provided with carbon copies of their OMR sheets. This step ensures that candidates have the opportunity to verify their responses if the need arises. These updates reflect RPSC's commitment to conducting selection examinations with the highest standards of fairness and accountability.

Guidelines

  • According to RPSC Secretary Ramniwas Mehta, all forthcoming examinations will incorporate a modification wherein Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) will now include 5 answer choices instead of the previous 4. As a requirement, candidates will be expected to indicate an answer for each question provided in the examination.
  • Failing to provide an answer for any question will result in a deduction of marks. Moreover, if a candidate leaves a significant portion of questions (10 percent) unanswered, it will lead to disqualification.
