The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea seeking the postponement of the NEET-PG 2024 examination, which is scheduled for August 11. The petition argued that many candidates have been allocated exam centers in cities that are difficult to reach, leaving them with limited time to make travel arrangements.

A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra refused to entertain the request for rescheduling. The plea, filed by Vishal Soren, claimed that the allocation of test cities on July 31, with specific centers to be announced on August 8, made it challenging for candidates to plan their travel. The allocation was done to prevent malpractices in the examination process.

The NEET-PG 2024 exam was initially scheduled for June 23 but was postponed by the Union Health Ministry due to alleged irregularities in other competitive exams. Despite the concerns raised, the Court decided that the exam would proceed as planned.

Earlier, the Supreme Court also refused to cancel the NEET-UG 2024 exam despite concerns over a paper leak, stating that there was insufficient evidence to prove that the leak affected the exam's integrity. The Court emphasized that a re-exam could disrupt the academic calendar for years and impact over 23 lakh students.
