School Timings to Increase says Education Department
Education Department has in its first initiative increased the school timing from 5 hours to 6 1/2 hours in summer. Major decisions have been taken to regularize school timings along with examination timings and vacations.

In an attempt to regularize school timings across institutions in the state, the Education Department has in its first initiative increased the school timing from 5 hours to 6 1/2 hours in summer. Major decisions have been taken to regularize school timings along with examination timings and vacations.
Winter vacations from this session onwards will be for 18 days as against the earlier 7 days.
Currently most schools run their day from 8am – 1pm n summers. This will now be revised from 7:15am till 1:45pm, effective from the new session beginning 26 June 2015. Winter vacations, being revised to 18 days, though the Collectors of the respective districts can take decisions for extension depending on the weather prevalent then.
Government schools will also run as per CBSE standards from the 2016-17 session.
