Mismatch in students’ Aadhaar card details causing delays even as deadline of December 15 approaches
Udaipur, December 3, 2024 - Under the One Nation, One Student ID scheme initiated by the Central Government and the Ministry of Education, a 12-digit automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID is being generated for students in Grades 1 to 12 across all private and government schools in the State. And a deadline of December 15 has been given to complete this work.
However, teachers are facing difficulties in generating these IDs through the U-DISE Plus portal. Kamlesh Sharma, district secretary of the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj and Secondary Teachers' Union, say that the difficulty is arising from the mismatch in the students' Aadhaar card details. The details have to match for the APAAR ID to be generated and therefore, it is essential to update the Aadhaar card. However, schools do not have the facility to update the Aadhaar cards. This is causing problems and delay in generating the APAAR IDs.
According to the school authorities, teachers are spending the entire day on this task. Another issue is the mid-term exams for Grades 9 to 12 which are scheduled from December 14 to 24. The school staff need time to prepare for the exams, too.
All these concerns have prompted a letter to be sent to the Education Minister and Secretary, requesting that teachers be provided training at the block or nodal level to speed up this process and that Aadhaar camps be set up at the school or Panchayat level.
School authorities are worried that they will not be able to meet the given deadline if these concerns are not met.
