Second phase of Agri-marketing reforms are on way

The research for second phase of agricultural marketing reforms is on way as part of initiatives for a II green revolution. Attention needs to be given to high value crops like fruits and vegetables, spices, development of nutritionally rich agricultural and livestock products, oilseeds & pulses to reduce imports and promotion of food processing and quality exports for enhancing farmers’ incomes.

Rajasthan is contributing about 80 percent of seed spices production in country and as such there is an enormous need for the development of spices’ processing within the state. In order to have more exportable surplus on sustainable basis, it is recommended that emphasis should be given towards varietal improvement through SAU’s and to frame favorable policy by the state government.

Conservation and exploitation of minor forest produce is of great challenge for policy makers in Rajasthan, therefore, new initiatives like special grading, storage and price guarantee should be there by government with the help of forest department, RAJAS Sangh and NGOs.
