Sixth Convocation of MPUAT

The Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT) Sixth convocation was held at the University Auditorium on 22nd December. The Hon. Governor of Rajasthan, Shivraj Singh Patil was the Chief Guest at the ceremony and while addressing the Convocation, spoke at length on the importance of Agriculture in the new world economy.

The Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT) Sixth convocation was held at the University Auditorium on 22nd December.

The Hon. Governor of Rajasthan, Shivraj Singh Patil was the Chief Guest at the ceremony and while addressing the Convocation, spoke at length on the importance of Agriculture in the new world economy.

He emphasized the importance of agriculture in the light of the fact that the major portion of land in India is agricultural and plenty of cattle supply is available in the country; whereas there is a dearth of water supply in Rajasthan as compared to the other parts of the country.

In such a situation, it is the responsibility of the patrons and students of the University to devise solutions for the development of agriculture in the region.

He further emphasised the need for objective agri techniques and technologies and of consistency in agri produce in the region. He spoke about the unexpected increase in food produce in the nation, but that due to the limited growth of pulses and oilseeds, India is dependant on import.

Congratulating and giving blessings to the recipients of the medals and degrees, the Hon. Governor said that the students should suitable discharge their duties towards the nation and fellow humans.

He also motivated the students to take up entrepreneurship, thereby creating job opportunities for others assist in the growth of the nation, through setting up agri clinics and agri consultancies.

The Vice Chancellor of MPUAT, Prof. S.S. Chahal, spoke about the Education Research and Extension Education related activities done in the University and elaborated the various graduate, post gradute and research courses offered at the University.

He said that looking at the demand for human resource in the area of Bio-Technology, Renewable Energy, Water Agriculture, Communications Technology, etc. the University has started one graduate, three post graduate, two research and various diploma programs. Apart from this, six Experience based Learning Units established at four colleges affiliated to the MPUAT facilitate development, personality enhancement and confidence in the students.
