Solar-Electric car by GITS students ranked 5th in India

Electric Solar Car, "Feathex", conceptualised and designed by students of Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur has secured 5th rank in India and 1st Rank in Rajasthan in the Electric Solar Vehicle Championship held in Andhra Pradesh.

Electric Solar Car, “Feathex”, conceptualised and designed by students of Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, Udaipur has secured 5th rank in India and 1st Rank in Rajasthan in the Electric Solar Vehicle Championship held in Andhra Pradesh.

Electric Solar Vehicle Championship (ESVC-2018) was held under the banner of ISIE at Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh and is claimed to be Asia’s largest Solar Vehicle Design and Manufacturing Event.

The team from GITS ranked 5th in India out of 76 participating teams. The car runs both on solar energy and electricity. The car was designed by group of students from various streams of engineering like Automobile, Mechanical and Electrical.

Dr Vikas Mishra, Director, GITS said that the specialty of the car lies in its flexible solar panel, design and also its dual ability to be charged both by solar energy and electricity.

GITS students were awarded “ISIE Future Award Adventure Class” and received prize of Rs 50,000.

HOD, Automobile, Deepti Khatri said that the aim of this project was to use natural resources and create an automobile which is can run on road. She said that they have tried and tested the car – it can be used at golf courses, resorts and even on the street.

Navneet Mishra, Faculty Advisor of this Project said that this electric solar car has a maximum speed of 45 kmph with tremendous pick-up after one-time full charge. It takes about 3 hours for the car to be fully charged by electricity and 6 hours by solar.
