SPIC MACAY Artists’ Perform at DPS Udaipur

Kathakali dance performance was given by a group of artists from SPIC MACAY on 22 Nov. 2012 at the amphitheatre of Delhi Public School Udaipur with an objective to promote Indian art and culture. The programme started at 9:00 am in the morning with the lighting of the lamp and a welcome song.

Kathakali dance performance was given by a group of artists from SPIC MACAY on 22 Nov. 2012 at the amphitheater of Delhi Public School Udaipur with an objective to promote Indian art and culture. The programme started at 9:00 am in the morning with the lighting of the lamp and a welcome song.

Junior Had Girl, Chiyana Tyagi read out the artist’s profile and then invited Kalamandalam Kuttan, the main performer to throw light on Kathakali as a form of dance. Kuttan explained the 24 letters of the dance through his gestures and lecture.

He and his team presented various stories associated with Bhim and Hanuman through the dance performance. He stressed that to understand Kathakali concentrated vision is essential.

At last the students asked various questions related to costume, time required to learn this dance etc. All the guests were felicitated by Nikki Agrawal, Director and Neeru Tandon, Principal of the school. The vote of thanks was extended by Junior Head Boy, Devansh Menaria.
