Udaipur, April 18, 2025 - Meera Girls College of Udaipur has been felicitated with five State-level awards in three categories under the National Service Scheme (NSS) for its remarkable achievements in some fields. This information was shared by Principal Prof Deepak Maheshwari.

The college was given the Best Institution Award, Best Programme Officer Award and Best Three Volunteers Award. Three volunteers from the college - Indira Kumari Chauhan, Tahira Fazal Aliwala and Himanshi Singh Rao - were selected in the Volunteer category, while Dr Sunita Arya was chosen in the Programme Officer category for the awards by the Commissionerate of College Education.

The awards were presented at a grand ceremony on April 16 at OTS Jaipur by Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade, Minister of Higher Education Dr Prem Chand Bairwa, Secretary of Higher Education Bhanu Prakash Yeturu and Commissioner of College Education Om Prakash Bairwa. The recipients were honoured with certificates of appreciation and mementos.

Under the guidance of the Central and State governments, the NSS has taken up several initiatives in the field of social service. Awareness is being raised on subjects such as cyber security, women empowerment, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, road safety and voter awareness through activities like street plays. Additionally, important initiatives like environmental protection, drug de-addiction, Vasudha Vandan, Veeron Ka Vandan, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, Azadi Ka Amrit Kalash, Meri Maati Mera Desh, organ and eye donation, personality development, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, medical camps, self-defense training, animal and bird welfare drives, My Bharat portal activities, digital literacy, youth parliament, National Unity Camps and Pre-RD Camps are actively conducted through NSS.
