IIM Udaipur successfully concluded the summer internship placement for PGPX (Global Supply Chain Management) Class of 2017-18. The programme once again received a very warm response from the industry.

IIM Udaipur successfully concluded the summer internship placement for PGPX (Global Supply Chain Management) Class of 2017-18. The programme once again received a very warm response from the industry.

This year’s batch had 21 students. A total of 11 companies participated in the selection process for the current batch and the students were offered a variety of roles in the Supply Chain domain – Logistics, Transportation, Planning, Forecasting, Sourcing and Procurement.

E-commerce giant Amazon India offered an internship opportunity in its Bangalore corporate office, while Ernst & Young recruited three candidates for a project on logistics and transportation. Consumer goods company, Eureka Forbes recruited two candidates for a project on optimising warehousing & transportation cost and effecting route planning while Mahindra & Mahindra recruited candidates for a project on forecasting.  Siemens, Cargill and Tupperware recruited candidates for projects based on redesigning supply chains post GST implementation. Logistic service providers like Babaji Shivram Clearing & Carriers Pvt Ltd and Procam logistics recruited candidates for multiple roles in logistics and warehousing. Start-ups like Athena Supply Chain Lab and Farm Taaza also recruited candidates in challenging roles. One key focus area of all the internships is recruiters focus on GST and its post implementation impacts. Every project assigned has the GST component added to it.

This PGPX (Global Supply Chain Management) is unique among Indian one year MBAs. It is a dual degree program that is offered by IIMU and the prestigious Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, USA. PGPX offers a similar range of electives, demands equal academic rigor and uses the same grading criteria as a two year MBA. It is designed specifically for students with diverse and extensive work experience – a minimum of 2.5 years. Post Internship, students will spend the fall module (5 months) at Purdue University, USA. Students of this course graduate with an MS-GSCM degree from Purdue and a Post Graduate Diploma for Executives with a specialization in GSCM from IIM Udaipur.

This year’s PGPX (Global Supply Chain Management) batch has 21 students who come from diverse backgrounds and an average work experience of 4.5 years. Candidates in the current batch have worked in industries such as IT, Manufacturing, Sales, Automotive and Construction. Candidates also have a diverse functional background having worked in domains such as Auditing, Insurance, Aviation, Operations, Project Management, Entrepreneurship, Telecom, Consulting, and E-Commerce.
