The Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Sir Padampat Singhania University in partnership with Shikshantar [NGO] and Banyan Roots organized a TED event, TEDXSPSU on Saturday 17th March in the University campus.

The EDC team has been working on the event for a month now and had been covered on UT under ‘For old Baatcheet times’ sake’ when they’d started on the project.

The event was special for a lot of reasons. The first being, the setup was completely prepared by the organizing committee. The chairs, tables and the stage were created out of scrap/trash material; the murals were painted by students themselves and the food provided in various breaks across the program was prepared by Hulchul Cafe (Shikshantar).

The theme of the event was The Times, They’re A Changing’ inspired by the popular Bob Dylan song focusing on the Counter Culture Project and was divided into 3 sessions with two long breaks meant for interaction between the attendees and the speakers. The speakers had gathered from all over the country and belonged to diversified backgrounds including art, music and the corporate sector.

The event was quite educative as each talk identified the principles of developing ideas and the speakers talked about how they implemented their ideas.

The attendees interacted with the speakers and shared their personal experiences, thus learning more than the speakers’ limited 18 minute talk on stage. It is events like these which help the unacquainted masses recognize trapped potential in them and encourage them to bring it out for the world to see. The spirit with which such an event was carried out was highly appreciated.

Not to forget how necessary such programs are for the youth.

After all, the times indeed are changing!
