Placement trends and records play a decisive factor in candidate’s shortlisting of colleges for applying. Depending on a number of factors, institutes prepare their own CAT cutoff marks for admission and candidates are subsequently shortlisted for further rounds of admission into their desired MBA Colleges.
Well, the decision to shortlist b-schools before applying is usually a tough one and requires preliminary research. Follow a few simple steps and conquer your dream. Single out your post MBA career goal, sit down and assess yourself- your strengths and weaknesses, goals and how to reach them.
Following this, determine the schools you want to pursue. Research the schools online and figure out the non-tangible factors. It is also suggested to attend all admission related events – seminars, edu fests, etc. for a better perspective.
Analyzing the Placement Records of B-Schools in 2018:
As the final placement season for 2018 MBA came to an end, numerous surveys exhibited a varied trend with most of the top B-schools in India revealing less than 5 per cent escalation in the average salary over the last year. Few of the notable b-schools which includes- IIM Rohtak and XIMB, XUB have rather observed a negative growth this year. Following these was IMI Delhi with a downward trend. However, there were a few B-Schools breaking the monotonousness like IIM Indore, VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur, and a few others that showed double-digit growth in the salary offered.
This article focuses on providing an overview of placement trends for the 2018 MBA Placement Season, along with the average salary packages and the percentage changes.

As we can see above, few of these private institutes have shown the lowest percentage of salary increase. However several public institutes, renowned for affordable and quality MBA education, have shown a 10% increase in the salary packages. For example- IIT Kharagpur had INR 15.4 LPA and that of FMS Delhi’s package is at INR 21.1 LPA.

The trends clearly reveal that after clearing the respective CAT Cut Off and getting admitted to one of the top notch b-schools, candidates usually receive good placement offers from top firms in their final year.
