Tree House School shuts without notice | Students stranded

Tree House play school situated at Saheli Nagar, Udaipur shut shop without any intimation to the parents or the students. The school was working normally before winter vacations but did not open post the vacations.

When the worried parents reached the school, they found that that the Principal and all the teachers had tendered their resignation. Further, the owner of the plot where the school was being run had put a lock outside the premises.

The school was run as a franchise of the Tree House chain. Niharika, Principal Tree House school said that the teachers had to take the extreme step as they were not paid for the last 6 months. Further, for any expenses related to the school, the staff had to bear their own expenses. Despite a number of emails and phone calls, the parent chain was misguiding them. Of late the parent company had stopped picking their calls and as a result, the entire staff put in their papers bringing curtains to the school.

There was also no clarity regarding the contract with the plot owner as a result of which the plot owner put locks outside the premises.

On the other side, parents are worried on multiple counts. Parents had submitted Rs 18000 to Rs 24000 as the full year fees and there is still three months to go for the academic session to get over. Secondly, students do not have a transfer certificate or a report card which puts their admission into other schools into question. Third, the students have gone through the academic programme for the last 8-9 months but without taking final exams their admission into other school becomes a question mark.

District Education Officer (Elementary Education), Narayan Prajapat said that this is a case of fraud and they will first inspect whether the school had taken approval for running in the first place. They will do a thorough investigation and strict action will be taken against offenders.
