In a plea for immediate support, the College of Fisheries (CoF) in Udaipur has reached out to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, emphasizing the critical necessity for additional teaching staff.
The institution, founded in 2010 under Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, serves as the sole provider of fisheries education in the state. CoF offers specialized training in fisheries, with a particular focus on students hailing from economically disadvantaged and tribal communities.
According to the letter addressed to the CM, students, university officials, and alumni association members have united to underscore the pressing need for bolstered faculty numbers.
"Shortage of faculty members has led to the suspension of PhD and MFSC programmes. With only two regular faculty members and 38 vacant positions, the college is struggling,," said Dr LL Sharma, former dean of CoF.
