Udaipur, February 11, 2025 - Exams in government schools will begin in less than a month, but the Secondary Education Department has suddenly upgraded 25 upper primary schools to senior secondary schools. Five of these schools are in Udaipur-Salumber district. This decision has surprised many.
Schools Must Start Immediately
The newly upgraded schools must start classes in this academic session itself. But there are many problems:
Parents might not want to enroll their children so close to exams.
There are no senior teachers appointed yet.
Officials say teachers will be brought from nearby schools, but student enrollment remains uncertain.
Board Exams Are Near
According to the order, classes for grades 9 and 10 will start now. The class 10 board exams begin on March 6, followed by class 9 exams. This sudden decision has caused confusion among students and teachers.
Political Pressure Behind the Decision?
Sources suggest that political pressure influenced this decision. Interestingly, three upgraded schools are in Kota, the home district of Education Minister Madan Dilawar. Sher Singh Chauhan, the state president of the Panchayati Raj and Secondary Teachers' Association, said the upgrades should have happened after the exams or in July-August to avoid confusion.
In Udaipur, the upgraded schools are in:
Manat Pala (Lasadiya)
Nalawa (Phalasiya)
Semari
Upla Falan (Salumber)
Uda Kheda (Vallabhnagar)
