Prof Govind Singh Bhardwaj, a Professor at MPUAT, Udaipur has designed a system for predicting earthquake 90 hours before it happens. This has a huge potential of saving lives world over that are lost due to these natural calamities.
Prof Govind, a Geology researcher at MPUAT informed that it took him 15 years to develop the Slop and earthquake failure early warning system. He studies the disturbances that took place in the Aravali ranges for 15 years for designing this early warning system.
The technique, he claims, can provide warning about the epicentre, the disturbance area and the magnitude of the earthquake. The data generated from the system can be clubbed with data captured from satellites for carrying out online data analysis. Preliminary test results of the system have been along expected lines.
