Udaipur's Kushal Cleared 1st Stage in Junior Science Olympiad

Udaipur's Kushal Cleared 1st Stage in Junior Science OlympiadKushal Babel of Udaipur has cleared National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS). NSEJS is the 1st Stage of International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).

The Examination was conducted on 27th November 2011 by Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT). Kushal, a student of class X has been selected for Stage-2 which will be a written test to be conducted in the last week of January 2012 by Homi Bhabha Centre of Science Education (HBCSE).

Kushal, who is a student of The Study School, prepared for this exam from Resonance Institute Udaipur.

According to Vikas Kaushik of Resonance, around 530 students have been selected for the Stage-2 from all over the country. After the second stage, about 35 students will be shortlisted for the Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC) which will lead to the selection of 6 students who will represent India in International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) to be held in Tehran, Iran in December 2012. An avid Badminton player, Kushal had also cleared the first stage of the Examination in Class IX.

While talking to UT on phone, Kushal said that he used to prepare for NSEJS under the guidance of subject experts at Resonance. “I spent 3-5 hours every day to prepare for this exam, the standard of NSEJS is very high in comparison to other exams I had appeared in past,” he said.

Another student of Resonance Udaipur, Yash Gupta had won Gold Medal in IJSO 2010 held at Abuja, Nigeria. IJSO is a prestigious examination conducted by HBCSE in India for science students. The Exam is conducted in 5 stages. Stage -1 is conducted by Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) while remaining stages are conducted by HBCSE.
