The National Testing Agency (NTA) has unveiled the examination schedule for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) 2024 June session. As per the announcement, the exam will take place on June 18 in two separate shifts. Candidates are advised to stay updated with further announcements and instructions on the official website — ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
For the morning shift, UGC NET will be conducted for 42 subjects from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Following this, the second shift will host the exam for 41 subjects from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. NTA has assured candidates that city slips will be issued 10 days prior to the examination. Subsequently, the admit cards will be made available after the issuance of the city intimation slips.
The examination, held in OMR mode, will encompass 83 subjects. It serves as a gateway to obtaining a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), securing appointments as assistant professors, and gaining admission to PhD programs in various Indian universities and colleges.
First Shift Exam
The subjects covered in shift 1 exams include philosophy, history, commerce, social work, public administration, music, Hindi, Kannada, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Arabic, linguistics, Nepali, Marathi, French, Spanish, Russian, Rajasthani, German, Japanese, adult education, physical education, Arab culture and Islamic studies, Indian culture, law, Buddhist – Jaina – Gandhian and peace studies, comparative study of religions, dance, drama, performing art, criminology, comparative literature, women's studies, visual art, geography, social studies and community health, Konkani, computer science and applications, environmental sciences, tourism administration and management, Santali, and Sindhi.
Second Shift Exam
The subjects covered in shift 2 exams include economics, political science, psychology, sociology, anthropology, education, defense and strategic studies, home science, population studies, management, Maithili, Bengali, Malayalam, Telugu, Urdu, English, Chinese, Dogri, Manipuri, Assamese, Gujarati, Persian, labor welfare, library and information science, mass communication and journalism, museology and conservation, archaeology, tribal and regional language literature, folk literature, Sanskrit traditional, forensic science, Pali, Kashmiri, electronic science, politics including international, Prakrit, human rights and duties, Bodo, yoga, Hindu studies, and Indian knowledge systems.
