Udaipur, January 14, 2025 - The UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) scheduled for January 15, 2025, has been postponed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) due to the overlapping festival dates of Makar Sankranti and Pongal. The announcement was made on Monday, January 13, 2025, creating changes to the exam schedule.

The UGC-NET is an important exam for candidates aspiring to pursue PhD programmes, secure Junior Research Fellowships (JRF), and apply for assistant professor positions across Indian universities. This year, the exam will take place between January 3 and January 16, 2025, for 85 subjects in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

The exam for January 15 was initially set for 17 subjects, including mass communication and journalism, Sanskrit, Nepali, law, Japanese, women studies, Malayalam, Urdu, Konkani, criminology, folk literature, electronic science, environmental science, and Indian knowledge system.

This delay follows a similar postponement last year when the education ministry received concerns that the integrity of the exam could be compromised. The revised dates and further updates will be shared by the NTA in the coming days.
