The US has agreed to begin taking appointments for students seeking visas on June14, almost six weeks after restricting travel from India. The US Embassy in India has posted on its website for the July and August period.

“The US we will open limited July and August student visa appointments across India.  Students may visit our website, https://ustraveldocs.com/in, to view availability and schedule an appointment,” US Embassy

After COVID-19 broke out on US campuses last year, a substantial number of Indian students were forced to return home and rely on virtual academic experiences.

According to the embassy, student visas are a key priority for the United States. Students starting a new education programme and existing students can restart their programme on or after August 1 and are permitted to travel to the United States for up to 30 days prior to the programme start date and resumption date, respectively.

The MEA has been taking up the issue with all countries concerned. Details are on MEA website and social media handles.

United States halted most non-immigrant travel from India on April 30. A total of 2 lakh Indian students study in the United States.
