Raising their voice against the prevailing social evils in society, the students of the College of Arts and Social Science at Sukhadia University here held Nukkad Natikas (street play) under which the students vividly brought to life some core problems.

Raising their voice against the prevailing social evils in society, the students of the College of Arts and Social Science at Sukhadia University here held Nukkad Natikas (street play) under which the students vividly brought to life some core problems.

The function began with street play “Nahi Nahi, Kabhi Nahi” on the increasing problem of drug addiction, parental expectations and peer pressure, rape, ragging, eve teasing and acid attacks. A complete story of destruction in itself, the play directed by Dr Neeta Trivedi was an open question as to when would crimes against women and drug addiction come to an end.

The tight dialogues and the intermittent comments, including satire on the failure of the government to curb these practices, left the audience laughing. Street plays on cyber crimes, ragging too earned a large round of applaud by the audience who were thrilled to watch the natural actors at play.

Chief guest Prof. I.V Trivedi, the Vice Chancellor of the University praised the students for their sincere efforts and said that such programs should more frequently be conducted to raise awareness among the common mass particularly the youth to change the mindset.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Vijay Shrimali, the commerce college Dean urged on the need to work together to eliminate various social evils in society. Dean Arts college Dr Farida Shah asserted such plays to be a regular feature in varsity schedule.
