Be it a yearning to get into the right job profile or opt for higher studies in technology, or even choose a tangent option like Management. It is of utmost importance to read, learn and unlearn
Students of BTech Computer Science, at Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies were treated to a 90 minute session on career opportunities and skill enhancement.
The session was organised by UdaipurTimes in association with ProTalent. Vineet Baya, renowned career counselor from Udaipur correlated skills with available career options for Engineering students.
He explained that it was the right time for students in the preliminary years of engineering to get their options and priorities right.
Be it a yearning to get into the right job profile or opt for higher studies in technology, or even choose a tangent option like Management. It is of utmost importance to read, learn and unlearn.
He explained that companies pay the most for thinkers and idea generators. Getting the optimal algorithm is of utmost importance while operational expertise like programming and testing/debugging are a part of the skill sets, but the top layer is for the thinkers.
Vineet took the students through a variety of examples and exercises to drive home the thought process. He elaborated on the need for enhancing mental aptitude and deductive abilities in the form of logical reasoning. This is a mandatory requirement if students need to crack competitive examinations or succeed in recruitment interviews. He emphasised on the need to read on a daily basis, for students to be aware of thing happening around them in general as well as in their areas of core competence.
For those students who were considering entrepreneurship or a startup initiative, Vineet cautioned that a comprehensive synchronization between technology and economic viability coupled with business management skills were important in ensuring that the venture succeeds.
In all, around 100 students participated in the session and most of the students were from the 1st and 2nd year.
The session was also attended by Dr. Raghuveer Raman, Gaurav and Mayank Patel from GITS.
