Today, Shashidhar, Scientist from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, addressed the first session and discussed various topics including the present situation of the research based studies in India and the level of research on the molecular biology in the country.
He also enumerated the benefits of the technology related to molecular and cell biology and said, “Earlier, for the treatment of diabetes, insulin was extracted after killing the animals. But with the technological development in the field of cell biology, insulin can be developed with the help of a few bacteria.”
Professor Akash Guliani of InStem organization,National Center for Biological Sciences, encouraged students to take up Cellular Biology as a subject and highlighted the benefits of the subject in the field of treatment of cancer.
On the second day of the workshop tomorrow, Nobal Prize winner Martin Shalfi, Lasker Award winner Ron Walle, Indian Scientist Professor Vivek Malhotra etc will address the different sessions of the workshop.
