Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and one of the world’s most admired companies in Zinc-Lead-Silver Business and Sustainability, organized the 2nd Convocation Ceremony for 180 GETs pass outs from 2017 batch on 12th June 2018, at Hindustan Zinc Head Office Auditorium.
The event was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp by Sunil Duggal – CEO Hindustan Zinc. He was also joined by Laxman Shekhawat – COO Mines, Barun Gorain – Chief Technical and Innovation Officer, Sanjay Sharma – HR Head and Neelima Khetan – CSR Head.
Sunil Duggal congratulated all the GETs for successfully completing their one-year training period. He enlightened them through motivating and encouraging words of success and growth. He highlighted on the growing spectrum of Hindustan Zinc, its dynamic culture, ample opportunities and a platform to experiment and develop. He said that “In the past few years, we have come a long way and have grown tremendously as a company. This benchmark that we have set today as an organization was not an existing one but created with utmost rigor. Hindustan Zinc offers the best platform to excel for new engineers in the nation”.
Sunil Duggal further elaborated on how HZL aims at becoming fully digitized and technically-driven. He advised the GETs to have a definite purpose and mission and gain as much exposure as possible so that empowerment is attained by both the employees and the organization.
Pavan Kaushik, Head of Corporate Communication, Hindustan Zinc gave valuable insights to the GETs. He said that “This induction has been a brilliant platform for all the GETs to get familiarized and connected with the various verticals of the organization. It has also helped them to learn the different mining operations and technologies. These experiences will prove to be beneficial to them in their journey ahead of attaining success…”.
GETs underwent a 45 – Day Foundation Course at Singhania University Udaipur where, they were provided with a platform to comprehend all the activities, from extraction of the raw ore to the production of the finished product, which was followed by 2 rotations and a number of live project assignments that helped them to learn how different units functioned. The GETs were given options to choose their location preferences at different business units of Hindustan Zinc.
Sanjay Sharma addressed the GETs by presenting a survey report on various aspects like Technological Growth and Learning, Job Security, Logistics, Hospitality, Transportation, Infrastructure, Technical Support and Rewards and Recognition, wherein, the GETs agreed that Hindustan Zinc excels in all the foresaid platforms.
Laxman Shekhawat also threw light on how the new GETs can help in bringing innovative and fresh thoughts and ideas within the organization. He encouraged the new faces to create an environment which will help them to develop and execute concepts that can be converted into real time projects.
Sunil Duggal, Barun Gorain and Neelima Khetan felicitated the top 15 performers of the batch. The Topper of the batch, Himanshu Jain shared his experiences on this wonderful journey.
The ceremony concluded with a question and answer round wherein the GETs had their queries clarified by the various inputs and knowledge given by Sunil Duggal.
