Aamir Khan in Trouble Again? Here’s What Sparked the Latest Buzz

Udaipur, April 24, 2025: There has been a lot of discussion in recent years about how Hindi cinema is struggling to compete with South Indian cinema. Most stars agree with this idea. Actor Salman Khan and producer Anurag Kashyap have accepted this 'defeat' and said that Bollywood needs to rethink its approach to survive. They believe that films should have more of a 'desi flavour'.

However, Aamir Khan does not agree with the view that Hindi cinema is falling behind India’s regional film industries. He shared his opinion in a video interview with The Hollywood Reporter India. Since last year, Bollywood has not delivered many box office hits. Except for two or three successful films, there hasn’t been much to talk about. So, is Bollywood's bad phase about to begin—or has it already started?

Aamir Khan Says: Bad Phase is Just a Cycle for Bollywood

In an interview with film critic Anupama Chopra, Aamir Khan said, "Bollywood has improved a lot compared to the 1970s and 80s. It’s true that Bollywood is going through a bad time right now, but it’s just a cycle. Good times will come after the bad."

Aamir on South vs Hindi Cinema Debate

On the comparison between Bollywood and other regional industries, Aamir said, "I don’t think films in other languages are doing much better. Is the quality of Hindi films very different from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, or Marathi films? Each belongs to the world of art, so there’s no point in separating them."

Social Media Reacts: Mixed Opinions on Aamir's Views

Aamir’s comments have sparked a debate on social media. Some people are supporting him, while others are strongly disagreeing. One viewer wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "If you think the film industry had a bad time in the 80s, then you are wrong." Another said, "Bollywood can only improve with original stories, not remakes." Someone else added, "Web series have more engaging stories than most big screen movies now."

Aamir's Comeback After 'Laal Singh Chaddha'

After the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha at the box office in 2022, Aamir Khan took a break from acting. He is now returning with a new film titled Sitare Zameen Paar, which will be released in June this year. Apart from acting, he is also producing films. His next production, Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol, is also set to release this year.
