April 15, 2026: Akshay Kumar is widely known as one of the fittest actors in Bollywood. He follows a strict fitness routine, exercises regularly, and maintains a disciplined diet even at the age of sixty. Despite being known for doing intense action roles, the actor recently shared a shocking and emotional incident from his early life, where he faced a serious health emergency during a visit to the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage.
While promoting his upcoming horror-comedy film Bhoot Bangla, Akshay Kumar spoke in detail about the incident. He said that he has always been deeply religious and believes in God. According to him, he often visits temples and even dargahs whenever he gets time. During the interaction, he became emotional while recalling how his parents also had a strong spiritual connection with Vaishno Devi.
He revealed that before his birth, his parents had gone to Vaishno Devi and prayed for a child. They had wished for a child who would be brave. Akshay said he was born about a year after that prayer, which made his family strongly believe in the blessing of the goddess. Because of this belief, his parents later decided to take him to Vaishno Devi again when he was a child.
Life-threatening illness during the pilgrimage
During that childhood pilgrimage, Akshay Kumar said his health suddenly deteriorated in a very serious way. He developed a high fever which started around 103 degrees and quickly rose to 104 degrees. His body became extremely weak and he felt like he was burning with fever. The situation became so severe that he eventually lost consciousness.
At that time, the medical facilities in the area were not well developed. A doctor present in Katra examined him and advised that he should be taken immediately to Delhi for proper treatment, as his condition was critical. The journey became very difficult and frightening for his family due to his sudden illness.
Akshay Kumar mentioned that this incident took place in 1969 when he was just a child. He described it as one of the most terrifying experiences of his life, which his family still remembers clearly. While promoting Bhoot Bangla, he shared this story again, calling it a miraculous and unforgettable moment from his early years.
