Venice of the East, Lake City, Udaipur witnessed the start of a new journey with the commencement of first international film festival on Saturday at Darpan Auditorium, Shilpgram with Movies, Dance show and Script Writing Session for Udaipurites .Young Director of the movie ‘Fass Gaye Re Obama’, Subhash Kapoor visited Udaipur as the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The program started with paying of tributes to three great personalities, Rajesh Khanna, Dara Singh and A. K. Hungal.

Movie enthusiasts savored many National and International movies that were showcased today and showered their praise on each and every one of them.

Dancers from Rajiv-Surti Dance Classes mesmerized the audience by performing dance sequence covering love songs from 1950 to 2000.

In the afternoon, a script-writing workshop was organized in which director Subhash Kapoor and Gaurav Panjwani highlighted the pointers for effective script writing. They said that the success and failure of a film depends on the script. It is the backbone of the movie.

Film festival director, Hanu Roj said, “Earlier this festival was supposed to be organized at Delhi but cultural heritage and beauty of Lake City made us to choose Udaipur over Delhi. Udaipur is already famous internationally. We want this city of Rana Pratap to be known worldwide for things other than its beauty”.

Guest of honor on the occasion, President of Pacific University, Professor B. P. Sharma said, “Cinema is a mirror of the society. Story writers must take responsibility to show content that takes the society forward.”
