Intro window
Hampus Bergqvist and Johan Bartoli are basically Swedish actors. They came to Mumbai with a wish to try their luck in Bollywood. They have acted in a few short films and advertisements. Their pranks are much popular on social media in which they can be seen selling paan, tea, vegetables and even popcorn on Mumbai streets. In their videos, they are giving messages for survival to the public. Their messages are based on survival during inflation and struggles that one has to face. They display various methods of survival in Mumbai. As per Johan and Hampus, struggling actors have to sell paan and even run taxis to make ends meet.
Both Hampus and Johan are graduates in Business Management. They were both interested in acting from the very beginning. Hampus and Johan had a special love for Indian filmy songs, love stories and drama. When they declared that they wanted to move to Mumbai to act in Bollywood, their parents thought that they were joking. But with a firm decision to be a part of Bollywood, they came to India. Since they were both strangers to Mumbai, they lived in a hostel where they met a man who had good contacts in Bollywood. Through him, they met Bollywood people and gave auditions.
Johan has worked with Esha Gupta in ‘Rustom’ and Hampus got a chance with Ritesh Deshmukh in ‘Banjo’. They can be seen in Saif Ali Khan’s forthcoming movie ‘Rangoon’ as British officers. In the past few days, their 12 second video has gone viral on Facebook. The video shows the willful attitude of auto drivers regarding money. More than 1 and half lakh people have already seen this video.
Johan and Hampus did not have much of a trouble with Hindi while giving auditions. They gradually learnt Hindi since they wanted to stay in Mumbai. After a series of rejections, they got selected for ‘Rangoon’. They say that it is quite a small role but they love every inch of it. Hampus has played the role of a Russian Gypsy in the movie “ढीठ पतंगे”. Apart from movies, Johan has worked in ad film for Volkswagen as a German Engineer.
How the idea of video clicked in their minds?
Both friends are working really hard to maintain their place in Bollywood. They get roles only when it requires a foreign face since India does not have enough foreign actors. Since the auto drivers used to charge them heavily due to their foreign origin, the idea of creating a video clicked in their minds.
Akshay Kumar is Hampus’s favourite actor whereas Salman Khan occupies Johan’s heart. Both these friends are fans of Shah Rukh’s movie “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge(DDLJ)”.
