February 4, 2025 - Indian-American singer and entrepreneur Chandrika Krishnamoorthy Tandon, , was honoured with a Grammy Award at the 67th Grammy Awards for her album Triveni. Tandon, 71, won the award for her recent collaborative album in the Best New Age, Ambient or Chant Album category. The seven-track album which blends ancient chants with world music, aimed to be a meditative journey in what Tandon has called “inner healing”.
The 67th edition of the prestigious music award ceremony was held on February 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The singer shared the award with collaborators South African flautist Wouter Kellerman and Japanese cellist Eru Matsumoto for Triveni, the name of which is inspired by the confluence of India's three holy rivers - Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. The album combines ancient Vedic mantras with the melodies of the flute and cello.
Chandrika is the elder sister of Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo, and was born into a Tamil Brahmin family and raised in Chennai. In 2009, she was nominated for her first Grammy for her album Om Namo Narayana: Soul Call album but became a winner for the first time.
“Music is love, music ignites the light within all of us, and, even in our darkest days, music spreads joy and laughter,” the singer said while receiving the Grammy award.
In her professional life, Tandon is a banking wiz and was the first Indian-American woman partner at McKinsey. She founded the New York-based Tandon Capital Associates in 1992, a company that does financial and operational restructuring for global clients.
