October 05, 2025: The Rishab Shetty-starrer mythological action drama film Kantara: Chapter 1 has completed three days at the box office. The film was released worldwide on October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra. Kantara: Chapter 1 earned a massive collection on its first day, and its four-day opening weekend is expected to be spectacular, as the film reached ₹100 crore in just two days. According to Saxenilki, Kantara: Chapter 1 opened in India with ₹61.85 crore. The film earned the most in Kannada (₹19.6 crore), followed by Hindi (₹18.5 crore), Telugu (₹13 crore), Tamil (₹5.55 crore), and Malayalam (₹5.25 crore). The film had a strong collection on the holiday, but its earnings dropped by 25% on the second day, earning ₹46 crore. Despite this drop, Kantara: Chapter 1 crossed ₹100 crore at the domestic box office, collecting a total of ₹111.7 crore in just two days.
Film Occupancy Rate
On the second day, Kannada theaters had 60.3% occupancy in the morning show, 90.73% in the afternoon, 86.48% in the evening, and 92% at night. The overall occupancy rate was 82.31%. In the Hindi belt, the overall occupancy was 15.82%, with 7.39% in the morning, 12.67% in the afternoon, 12.67% in the evening, and 27.90% at night.

The film is directed by Rishab Shetty, who also plays the lead role. The cast includes Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram, and Pramod Shetty. The story is based on folklore, culture, and spirituality. Hombale Films, the producers of KGF and Salaar, made the film. It is a prequel to the 2022 film Kantara, which earned over ₹400 crore at the box office.
