The case is more dangerous than the earlier human trafficking cases and is handed over to Shivani after she joins the NIA. She began her film career with Kanooru Heggadithi in 1999. She played her first lead role in 2001 in the film Guptagamini. Mallika is a well-known face among Kannada audiences. Some of her popular films include Mussanjaya Katha Prasanga, Garva, and Magha Mayuri.

Her work also includes the web series The Killer Soup, starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Manoj Bajpayee. She was also part of Anurag Kashyap’s film Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat.
