Odissi took over Kumbha Sangeet Samaroh

It was Odissi dancing today that enveloped the third day of the Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Samaroh here at the Sukhadia Rangmanch, Town Hall.
Dr. Sonal Mansingh, the well-known Indian Classical dancer and protagonist of the Odissi dancing style stole the hearts of hundreds of enthusiasts who had gathered to see her perform.

It was Odissi dancing today that enveloped the third day of the Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Samaroh here at the Sukhadia Rangmanch, Town Hall.

Dr. Sonal Mansingh, the well-known Indian Classical dancer and protagonist of the Odissi dancing style stole the hearts of hundreds of enthusiasts who had gathered to see her perform.

The evening’s proceedings started with a welcome speech by Hardik jain and Mr. Y. S. Kothari, Secretary, Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Parishad.  The Chief Guests for today was H.K. Mehta, Senior Vice President, Hindustan Zinc (Vedanta) and Rajesh Khatri, Senior Manager, SBI. Odissi took over Kumbha Sangeet Samaroh

Dr. Sonal Mansingh, the recipient of the Padma Bhushan was felicitated with the M.N. Mathur award.

The evening’s performances commenced with the Maalcharan performed by Deenbandhu, Anita, Sunita and Laxmi, which enthralled the audiences and assured them of a great evening ahead.

Beginning the dance performances for the evening, the Odissi Group Dance was showcased, where Dr. Sonal Mansingh was the main dancer and was accompanied by Deenbandhu, Sunita, Anita and Laxmi.  Singer Prashant Behra; Abraar Hussain on Sarod, Praful on Mridula and Vinay Prasanna on the Bansuri.

Dr. Sonal Mansingh further entertained the audience by giving a solo performances on Surdas’ composition based on Lord Krishna’s Bal Leela, “Maiya Mori, Mein Nahi Makhan Khayo” and  Kavi Jaidev’s Radha, Krishna and Sakhi’s Leela.

Continuing to deliver her best, Dr. Sonal Mansingh danced to the tune of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s Bangla song, “Aisho Shyamlo Sunder”.

The Pallavi dance by Deenbandhu, Sunita, Anita and Laxmi was followed by another one of Dr. Sonal Mansinghs  performance, on Meera Bai’s ‘Mere to Girdhaar Gopal’.
