Shanavas Passes Away: South Star of 96 Films Loses Battle with Kidney Ailment
August 5, 2025: The Indian film industry mourned the passing of veteran South Indian cinema actor Shanavas, who died at the age of 71 in Thiruvananthapuram due to kidney issues.
Also known as the son of superstar Prem Nazir, Shanavas had a prolific career in acting, featuring in 96 films across Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He began his journey in 1981 with 'Premageethangal' while pursuing an M.A. in English Literature. Notable for his versatility, he portrayed a variety of roles, including romantic leads and villains.
After a hiatus, he made a successful comeback in 2011 with the hit film 'China Town'. Shanavas will be remembered for his contributions to the industry, including his collaborations with his father in seven films.
