The long-standing discussions have finally ended. Saif Ali Khan is now officially set to play the lead role in the Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam superhit Oppam. The film will be directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, who has been working on this project for a long time and has now given it the green signal.

Last week, the makers confirmed this in a business magazine. They revealed that the Hindi rights of Oppam have been acquired, and the film will go on floors by the end of this year.

Saif to Learn Kalaripayattu for His Role

According to a report by News18, Saif will be seen in a new action-packed avatar. To make his character more powerful, he will train in Kalaripayattu, an ancient Indian martial art.

As per Mid-Day, "After completing Rahul Dholakia’s film, Saif will take a two-month break. During this time, he will attend workshops to prepare for the role of a blind man and then head to Kerala to learn Kalaripayattu." His role in the film is that of a blind but skilled martial artist.
