Udaipur, January 8, 2025 - The beloved 1993 Japanese-Indian anime film "The Legend of Prince Rama" is set to make a grand comeback in cinemas on January 24, 2025. With a 4K remaster, enhanced audio, and new dubs in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, along with the original English version. Initially planned for release on October 18 last year, the remastered film faced a delay, heightening anticipation for its eventual theatrical debut.

Distributed by Geek Pictures India, Anil Thadani's AA Films, and Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment, the release is eagerly anticipated by fans of animation and Indian mythology alike. The updated version has been creatively overseen by V Vijayendra Prasad, celebrated screenwriter and father of filmmaker SS Rajamouli, ensuring the adaptation resonates with contemporary audiences while staying true to its roots.

This collaboration between Japan and India, directed and produced by Yugo Sako, has a rich history. Despite not having a theatrical release in 1993, the film earned widespread popularity in India through its re-runs on television in the early 2000s, capturing the hearts of millions.

The Legend of Prince Rama was first introduced to Indian audiences during its screening at the 24th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in 1993. Over the years, it has gained cult status, celebrated for its unique artistic style and respectful retelling of the epic Ramayana.
