Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter Ignite Romance in Netflix's 'The Royals' Trailer

Udaipur, April 27, 2025: "I don't know why love stories are not written in that way anymore, but I believe they will make a comeback," said actress Bhumi Pednekar at the trailer launch of the web series The Royals. She will star alongside Ishaan Khatter in this romantic-comedy series. The trailer for the series was released last Tuesday.

A royal-themed event was held at Yash Raj Films Studio to celebrate the trailer release of The Royals. Sakshi Tanwar, Chunky Pandey, Dino Morea, Ishaan Khatter, Bhumi Pednekar, and many others attended the grand event.

This project marks Bhumi’s debut in the world of series. The actress believes that The Royals will bring back the romance genre, which dominated Bollywood in the nineties. In her words, "It is going to bring back the romance genre, which used to rule the big screen in the nineties.

The Royals: A Romantic Tale of a Prince and a Commoner

The eight-episode series The Royals revolves around the love story between a prince and a commoner. Ishaan Khatter plays the role of Prince Abhiraj Singh, while Bhumi Pednekar stars as Sophia Shekhar, the CEO of a company.

Bhumi Pednekar on the Comeback of Romance in Bollywood

At the trailer launch, Bhumi shared her thoughts on the fading romantic genre in Bollywood. "All the superstars of the nineties built their careers on romance. Now, this genre isn't given much importance. I think this series will bring fresh air, making romantic series interesting again," she said. Speaking about her character, Bhumi added, "Sophia's character inspired me in many ways. It grounded me. I hope the audience enjoys watching the series as much as I enjoyed acting in it. I had a high fever on the first day of shooting, but I pushed through."

Ishaan Khatter on His Exciting Role as Prince Abhiraj

Ishaan Khatter expressed his excitement about playing such a fun and engaging character. "It was an exciting experience to work with so many experienced actors. This series has everything: laughter, joy, drama, and love. Of all the characters I've played, Abhiraj is the most fun. I trained in horse riding for two months to prepare for the role and learned to play polo," Ishaan shared.

Zeenat Aman Makes a Comeback with 'The Royals'

Veteran actress Zeenat Aman will make her acting comeback with The Royals. Although she wasn’t present at the event, she shared a video message saying, "My enthusiasm for this new character is as strong as ever. The series has a completely fresh concept, and it was an exciting experience for me. The energy and new perspective brought by the young actors kept the set alive. I want to thank Pritish Nandi Communications and Netflix for giving me this opportunity."

Release Date for 'The Royals'

The Royals, directed by Priyanka Ghosh and Nupur Asthana, will be released on Netflix on May 9.
