100 Year Old Royal Musical Instruments to be displayed at City Palace

Collection of rare Rajwadi musical instruments will be on display at Zanana Mahal of City Palace as part of the ‘Symphony of Mewar, A Royal Collection of Musical Instrument’ exhibition. This exhibition is a part of the ongoing series by Maharana Mewar Charitable Trust for preserving living heritage.

This exhibition is a part of the ongoing series by Maharana Mewar Charitable Trust for preserving living heritage.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Divisional Commission Subodh Kumar Agarwal on Monday 20th May.

According to Bhupendra Singh Ahuwa, Vice Secretary-Administration, Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, the zone-D of Zanana Mahal has been developed as a Music Gallery with the financial aid received from Ministry of Culture, Indian Government.

23 Royal musical instruments that are nearly Hundred years old will be exhibited in the gallery. Seema Rathore, President of Department of Music, Meera Girls College has provided details about all the instruments.

Instruments to be kept in the exhibition include: Baby Violin with bow, Kamchya, Manjeera, Tabla Daga pair, Pakhavaj, Indian Banjo, Harmonium (used with the help of feet), Model of Sitar, Taos, Sitar, Flat Sitar, Sitar Top & Bottom, Panch Kali ka Tanpura, Supeti, Scale Changer German Reed Harmonium, Gramophone Player, Dilruba and Gaj, Israj, Hammer and Piano.

The inauguration program to be held on Monday evening will included Sitar Vadan by Kathak Dancer and Music Teacher, Dr. Poonam Joshi from Meera Girls College. Students of MMPS will also present orchestra.
