Everybody is trying to make today memorable. 12.12.12 is the date, which will now come after a millennium.

Some are celebrating their birthday, some are getting married and newborns are getting the warmest welcome ever from families. But, does it not happen on every such event or occasion, irrespective of the date?

The date may signify its uniqueness but very few are looking at the ‘moral’ side of what it signifies, for me it signifies – ‘Nothing I build today will last’.

We won’t be here after 1000 years, our marriages won’t last and even the newborns will be out long when the date 12.12.3012 hits the calendar. The new bike that you purchase would be either in dust or, if you are lucky, be kept as an antique in your family garage.

The thing that we should really consider is doing something this day that may last till we live. Planting a tree, doing charity, helping a stranger or re-bonding with some old friend would give you happiness more than spending a few bucks to make this memorable, and may make you smile on your deathbed.

The human life gets puny and lame as hard as we try to make it awesome every day. We try so hard to find out ways to register a memory, that we escape the obvious things we can do.

Waking up in the morning, I didn’t see anything in dailies or online which shows a gesture of a human to human this 12.12.12, but what I saw was that someone is buying something or someone is taking a day off to savor the memory of it.

12.12.12 may be trying to teach a deeper meaning of morality, and doing something while we are alive; but we on the other hand are just looking on the edge and maybe doing nothing but useless stuff. Rise and Shine folks, life isn’t just about memories, it’s also about deeds! For deeds will count and be etched in memory, of not you alone but of others who are affected as well. Help, care, love!
