Thirteen Muslim couples took pledge of acceptance in the Nikah ceremony held at Town Hall ground today in the first Muslim mass marriage. Hundreds of people took part in the splendid wedding function and blessed the couples.

Thirteen Muslim couples took pledge of acceptance in the Nikah ceremony held at Town Hall ground today in the first Muslim mass marriage. Hundreds of people took part in the splendid wedding function and blessed the couples.

Organized by Life Progressive Society, the mass wedding function was also attended by Raghuveer Singh Meena, MLA, Rajni Dangi, Mayor, Neelima Sukhadia, Congress President, D.I. Khan, social activist and Dr. Khalil Agwani, president of Life Progressive Society.

The program was started with the baraat procession initiated from the Dargah at Ashwini Bazar and passed through Delhi Gate, Surajpol and concluded at Town Hall.

Nikah ceremony was conducted by Muslim scholars and the process was conducted after asking brides’ consent.

“This is praiseworthy to know that the Muslims gave freedom to girls and ask their consent before marriage”, said Rajni Dangi while addressing the guests.

Mass wedding is a common practice followed by many local communities of Udaipur, but it is for the first time that Muslim community initiated the event.

All brides and grooms were gifted by Life Progressive Society. The program concluded with the mass feast.
